The Technical Writer will document use cases, functional specifications, and technical requirements related to agronomy and grain management. This role also includes assisting in software testing and feedback loops. It is a hybrid role that ensures documentation is accurate, relevant, and directly connected to real-world product behavior. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, collaborative, and comfortable working within an agile environment. The role reports to the Senior Architect.

Responsibilities

Collaborate with subject matter experts (SMEs), architects, and developers to gather information and clarify technical details.

Write and maintain detailed documentation of use cases, functional requirements, and technical specifications.

Actively participate in agile ceremonies (e.g., sprint planning, demos, retrospectives, and daily standups) as needed.

Perform hands-on software testing, validating functionality against requirements, and providing actionable feedback.

Document test results, edge cases, and discrepancies clearly and structurally.

Ensure documentation reflects real system behavior by incorporating testing outcomes and product changes.

Translate complex agronomy and grain business processes into structured workflows, diagrams, and requirements.

Contribute to the continuous improvement of documentation, testing, and agile practices.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Technical Writing, English, Communications, Computer Science, Agriculture (Agronomy and/or Grain), or a related field, or equivalent work experience.

Proven experience as a technical writer in a software or technology environment.

Strong ability to understand and document technical concepts, workflows, and system requirements.

Experience testing software (formal QA or informal UAT) and providing structured feedback.

Excellent written communication skills with a sharp eye for clarity and consistency.

Familiarity with agile methodologies and working in sprint-based development cycles.

Proficiency in documentation tools such as Microsoft Office, Confluence, Jira, or other documentation platforms.

Preferred:

Experience in the agriculture industry, particularly agronomy or grain operations.

Familiarity with software development lifecycles, agile methodologies, and requirement-gathering practices.

Ability to create diagrams and visual workflows (e.g., Visio, Lucidchart, or similar).
